7 days of Thriller and some Exciting Zombie News

Before we go to the lesson of the day ( called Hip N Roar. This is the signature move, with the "dinosaur hands") We have some cool news from Zombie alum Dee Grant. She has recruited two make-up artists who will be on hand to create scary Zombie faces before the dance. Appointments will be necessary, and the cost will be 50 pesos for the Cruz Roja, and to cover the cost of the make-up. On to the lesson!

Today's Dance Move

Shuffle Ha' Slide

If you only learn one move, this would be the one. We use it multiple times in the routine.
And the words are:

shuffle back hop hop forward
turn look stare stare
down ha down ha down ha down ha
down clap slide slide slide stomp and shoulders look left
down clap slide slide slide stomp and shoulders and prep

There, that wasn't so bad, was it? Remember, everyone else will be saying it, too!

I copied this hook, line, and sinker from a new facebook event page called Thrill day 2012 Radio Broadcast. The links lead to an internet radio station that has been connected to Thrill The World from the beginning.

Your DJ, Dimitris, and his fellow zombie and partner in life Zombie "Q" will be LIVE on air (www.dancenow.com ) broadcasting a 3-hour show on Thrill Day, leading up to the final countdown at 7:00PM GMT! (That means it will start at 10:00 am our time)
Every Saturday, until Thrill Day, "Thriller" (with and without script) is playing every hour on the hour, for zombies to practice the dance in quantum synchronicity with other zombies around the world.

Currently, the programming features Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. Featured tracks from
"Bad 25" are also currently on rotation! (Bad 25 refers to the Silver Anniversary of Michael Jackson's record shattering album "Bad")f

A letter from Emily, Zombie Webmistress

We love dancing Thriller because our group here in Lakeside has great esprit de corps and an enthusiastic leader who makes learning and rehearsing it fun. The music and the choreography are MICHAEL JACKSON great. And after four years, it is a tradition in the making.

Last year Thriller became a fundraiser too--for Cruz Roja. Our group raised about 66,000 pesos, surpassing all expectations. This year the goal is to raise even more!

Attached is a form for you to use when collecting donations. One of us who was very successful last year suggested that the easiest approach is to ask people to be your "sponsors." It's also a good idea to get the donations up front, rather than having people just sign a pledge. Sometimes it can be hard to chase down those pledges afterward. You know what they say about "a bird in the hand...."

So if you didn't get a form on Tuesday, please print this one out and carry it with you at all times! You never know when you'll meet a likely prospect. Every person living or visiting our beautiful area could have occasion to call on the Red Cross, and we want it to be there and be strong when we need it and when our Mexican neighbors need it--which is always.

Thanks for helping to support Cruz Roja through your participation in Thriller.

Emily.

Thank YOU, Emily! Pledge forms will always be available at practice, or email ttwajijic@gmail.com

Our Press Release!

Many thanks to Alejandro Grattan, editor of The Ojo Del Lago for his cooperation in accepting this press release at the 11th hour.

ZOMBIE HORDE RETURNS TO AJIJIC!

Ajijic is one of hundreds of cities on five continents who are registered to try to break the world record for simultaneous dancing. Thrill the World is an annual worldwide flashmob, done to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” to break the record and to raise money and awareness for charity.

Want to join the fun? Workshops will be held starting September 29 every Saturday at The Ajijic Cultural Center from 12:00 to 2:00, and at The Hole in One restaurant on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00. Everybody in the community is enthusiastically encouraged to join, and instruction will be offered in English and Spanish. Got two left feet? Don't worry, Zombies are notoriously bad dancers.

We will be dancing to raise money for the Cruz Roja. If you’d like to participate, but aren’t quite ready to take your inner Michael Jackson public, find a dancing Zombie to sponsor. Last year, we raised $66,000 pesos!

Experiencing the event itself is "thrilling" for both dancers and on-lookers. It is, in addition to supporting our Red Cross, the opportunity to dance with a crowd of friends, knowing that thousands of other people all over the world are doing the same thing at the same time, and everybody is dressed "to kill". Of course, the audience hooting it up also helps the excitement and the fun.

Join us for this family friendly event that brings together all sorts of people. Differences fade away and we all just celebrate the love of music, dance and having fun!
